This year is indeed not easy for everyone. It has taken away jobs, income, and in some cases, even lives. On one hand as Corona pandemic has brought in misfortunes, at the time it has also made us realize to appreciate each and every present moment of life, that would become a memory tomorrow.
Through this blog, it is a tiny attempt to get you all back in time, where life was comparatively simpler where people spoke face-to-face along with the songs that successfully expressed feelings and emotions. Yes, I am talking about the era of Indi Pop that gave us a lifetime of memories and songs to cherish.
Indi Pop also known as Hindi pop is basically pop music that is different from soundtracks for Indian cinema, Bollywood yet made in India. Indi Pop were highly popular during 90s but unfortunately as the time passed, they eventually disappeared.
We all used to admire and enjoy these musical videos being aired on MTV and other popular music channels. Those were the times where Punjabi music hadn't took over, sustaining the original Hindi music, lyrics as well as brilliant artists. They include Shaan, Lucky Ali, Sonu Nigam, Alisha Chinai, Falguni Pathak, The Aryans, Band of Boys, Bombay Vikings and many more.
Many of my friends requested me for this blog after Bollywood along with some recommendations to fill up their gaps of nostalgia. So this is dedicated to each and everyone of them...
Shaan - Tanha Dil
Lucky Ali - O Sanam
Falguni Pathak - O Piya
Bombay Vikings - Kyaa surat hai
Sonu Nigam - Chanda ki Doli
Whether the Bollywood music can one of the reasons for the decline of Indi Pop is still debatable. Additionally, the rise of KPOP may have change the taste and preferences, nevertheless Indi pop still form a small place in the playlists in most of the Indian 90s generation.
I hope these lost melodies might help to revive the teenage years and bring many memories to life after listening them. Of course, it's entirely possible that I may have missed out some of them, but if have any favorite Indo pop songs; please let me know in the comments.
Have a musical time!
